OK, this is as good a place as any, for my following comment on Betty White.

Amazed that she's in her 90's !

I first became acquainted with her with the Golden Girls sitcom, along with Bea Arthur and Estelle Getty (odd that I thought she joined in the 2nd season), but it really was the opening episode. She had had a stroke that rendered her totally annoying !)

I could point out some highlights...

BUT right now PBS-TV is running a 90-min. show BETTY WHITE: FIRST LADY OF TELEVISION, from 8:00 to 9:30. At 8:20 I turned the set off.

Why?
There was a sudden RUDE pledge break that would run about 15 minutes ! They did this RUDEness with a Mister Rogers Neighborhood special. they did it with YOUNG HYACINTH which, by itself, fell far short of what anybody would have reasonably expected, and now they did it with Betty White.
I had already determined that if I had any reason to believe that a channel 13,21 or 50 show would be rudely interrupted for a 15-minute pledge break - I would NOT watch it. I have begun to carefully scrutinize TV listings to determine if this rudeness was likely. The Betty White special was new, so I had NO way to tell whether or not it was padded with rude pledge breaks.
Channel 13's website is down and has been down for quite some time. So I could NOT determine if a pledge binge was just for that one night - or whether it would run week after week after week after week.
Quacks.

Atop of all that, they replaced most of my favorite british sitcoms with junk.
